alright.
what have i been doing with my life?
last you heard...i quit my job by leaving a note. probably not the best decision to leave me with any dignity. i'll get over myself eventually.
the monday after i went on a little road trip with my friend tyler up to kelowna. he was moving home to alberta, but was making a couple day stop in kelowna to stay with some mutual friends of ours. his sister was also supposed to have a baby that week, but still no new born. we did alot of eating at restaurants and napping.
on thursday i took the bus back home to abbotsford. 3 kids were sitting directly in front of me. pre-teen age. mom sent them on thebus to their dads for spring break. they were really bratty, arguing all the time, my ipod barely aided in keeping them out. they directly reminded me of my childhood. we weren't good at getting along.
arriving home my roommate picked me up from the station and we went directly to a tattoo place where she was getting her fiances graffiti tag on her side and our other friend got a big cityscape with some writing all up her side. 4 hours logged at the tattoo place.
my roommate brookes brother graduated from a rehab center 3 weeks ago. this place is up in the moutains as far from anything as possible. on fridays they have grad for the guys who've been there for 3 months. so since then we've been twice to support the guys that we've come to know from going up and visiting and playing scrabble. this last week we stayed for the AA meeting. this one guy talked about being sexually assaulted in jail by one of the guards and how that was the only thing he'd ever held back when going through rehab. this time he'd finally given it up and that gave him freedom for the first time since the incident. it's a pretty eye opening experience for a girl from steinbach.
here's a good story. that last time brooke and i were up at the rehab place, we were taking one of the grad guys in our truck with us down to mission, so he could catch a ride from there. we drove there with a 3 seater mini-truck so we were basically packed full already. then two other guys asked if they could catch rides into town as well, so they jumped in the truckbed with a bunch of their bags. as we were leaving the one in the cab with us asked if he gave us gas money if we could take him to the ferry (1-1.5 hour drive). brooke, because of her generous disease said to skip the gas money, and we'll just do it. along the way we saw a guy who got kicked out of the center that morning, and he jumped in the back as well. so...we are now transporting 6 people in a comfortably 2 person truck.
as we were merging onto the highway a car in the far left lane was speeding alot, and swerved right for some unknown reason, and then over compensated and drove into the ditch, hit a lip in the ground, and went off of it like a super dave stunt, caught big air, flipped, and then hit the ground and rolled twice, landing on the roof. we pulled over, called 911, the guys in the back of the truck jumped out and ran over to pull people out of the car. there were two little girls in the backseat and the parents in the front. surprisingly everyone was perfectly ok, except the mom had a scratch on her face. the guys all piled back into the truck before the cops showed up, as to avoid getting a handful of tickets. we dropped brooke off at her work, and i carried on transporting the men to the ferry. this whole adventure began at 1pm leaving the town we were supposed to drop the guys off at, and i got home just after 5pm. moral of the story.............take gas money when it is offered.
yesterday i went to see v for vendetta. i am definitely no movie critic, but i really enjoyed myself. i jumped twice, to prove it wasn't predictable. natalie portman is great. if i could pull off a shaved head, i'd do it.
tuesday march 28th i fly back to winnipeg. i was made aware that i start work on thursday march 30th, at 9:45am. this doesn't mix well with the wednesday being crystals birthday. i've decided that my first shift back can be a write off anyway. right? |
